Hey everyone! The next development update has been long overdue so let’s kick it off with a brief look at what the Outer Wilds team has been up to for the past few months. Planet Progress In our last development update, we announced that Giant’s Deep had been finished. In the time since then, the team has been making great progress on the rest of the Outer Wilds solar system. Along with Giant’s Deep, Timber Hearth’s and the Hourglass Twins’ construction has also been completed. All planets will still be undergoing small tweaks with prop placement based off further testing but no additional art assets will be required. In the meantime, our art team has moved on to finalizing the construction on Dark Bramble and the mysterious Quantum Moon. 3 out of 5 planets have been completed. Dark Bramble and the Quantum Moon are up next! Playtests We have officially moved into weekly playtests for the meta-game! It has been such an amazing and educational experience watching players explore Outer Wilds without us needing to give them directions. In addition, this process has allowed us to find many more bugs and provided us with insight into which places players are more likely to explore first. As a result, we have been refining the narrative and altering the difficulty level of certain areas based off player feedback and our own observations. Laura (the Intern) playtesting the game in between writing updates.
What’s Next? Last month Lead Artist, Alena, finished the player ship! In the next update, we’ll be talking about how the player ship has evolved, the many new ways you can break said ship, and what we’ve learned through our latest playtests. Cheers! Mobius

Isn't there a "mystery planet" that needs artwork finishing as well?

This is looking very exiting! You didn't really mention when you'd work on the wanderer, or if it even needs much work at all.

Honestly, my only beef with the game is lag. Portal 2 and KSP run like a dream, but yet this game gives less than 10 FPS at times. There needs to be more graphics options, mainly lower resolutions.

The final game will allow the player to have some control over the games settings. We've added resolution options and are working on adding more options soon.

The Wanderer does still need final art, but is currently going through a few tweaks.
