Patch 1.1.11 Is Now Available

Patch 1.1.11 is live! It fixes a number of bugs on all platforms including a fix to input rebinding, which now saves correctly between playthroughs. Note that it comes with a known PC-only bug that can cause controllers to stop working (see more below).  We are working to fix this. 

This bug occurs when there are two controllers plugged in to the PC, one of which is a PS4 controller; or when two PS4 controllers are plugged into the PC. If you are having this issue and have two controllers connected, try playing with only one controller connected.

Patch changes are listed below:
Patch 1.1.11 Changes:
Tech
  • Input Binding Saves: User input binding saves now load correctly when starting a new session
  • Fix for the wrong sequence triggering if you take a particular object on a field trip
  • Quantum Moon should no longer fall into the sun in a certain situation
Design
  • Design and behavior changes in the Starlit Cove
  • Adjusted music cues during certain dark sequences to give clearer feedback
  • Minor changes to improve navigation in the Endless Canyon
  • Made a passage in the Shrouded Woodlands appear more obviously impassible
  • Minor behavioral tweaks for certain dark sequences
  • Added visual feedback when player is being illuminated
  • Flashlight prompt now triggers in an additional situation when entering the Stranger
  • Broken room by Reservoir rearranged so you can exit without jetpack fuel
Art
  • Fixed architecture issues and several missing props in Echoes of the Eye content
  • Added collision to some hard to reach objects in the Stranger
  • Question marks in rumor mode are now orange
  • Fixing some lighting and prop placement in the River Lowland
  • Fixed ground texture missing on an island's alternate view in Shrouded Woodlands
  • Fixed various cliff rocks clipping through buildings in Endless Canyon
  • Fixed misaligned texture on Timber Hearth launchpad
Localization
  • Fix to missing French dialogue for Gabbro
  • Numerous fixes for the Japanese localization

PC Only Changes
  • Active Controllers selection should persist between game sessions if the connected controllers do not change
  • Visual polish to animated characters in an alternate view

PC DualShock/PS4 Only Changes
  • The View Map input binding now unbinds the Touchpad Button binding when it is rebound

Console Only Changes (already added to PC)
  • A hidden treasure was added
  • Visual effects polish for some Echoes of the Eye content
  • Visual polish to animated characters​

Echoes of the Eye is here!

Outer Wilds Echoes of the Eye expansion is now available on all platforms!  Purchase it here: Steam, Epic, PS4, and Xbox1. Steam:  Epic:  PS4:  XB:

Along with the expansion comes patches version 1.1.8 and 1.1.9, available on all platforms, and 1.1.10, which will be arriving soon. Here’s what’s changed:

1.1.8 Changelog

Writing
  • Turkish is now an available language
  • Fixed writing and localization throughout the game
  • Polished clue for Southern Observatory and fixed a contradiction regarding the museum statue
  • New Nomai computer on Hollow’s Lantern
Tech
  • Overhauled input rebinding system and controller support
  • Planetary bodies and the sun no longer become invisible beyond a viewing distance of 50 km
  • Ocean shader optimizations
  • Fixed some behavior involving Nomai viewing platforms
  • Numerous bug fixes
UI
  • “Gear Options” menu revamped to “Pre-flight Checklist” menu
  • Major menu revisions
Design
  • New building and campsite added to Timber Hearth
  • The doze off ability is now unlocked after getting the launch codes
  • Future exhibit site added to observatory museum
  • Hearthian Deep Space Satellite added to solar system
  • Increased player jump responsiveness
  • Boost can now be activated even if boost/jump input is pressed slightly before up thrust input
  • Made it easier to launch Scout through certain ruined walls

  • Numerous optimizations to improve performance
  • Numerous bugfixes, particularly to input and controller rebinding
  • Props and small art fixes throughout Echoes of the Eye content

Hotfix 1.1.10 Changelog
  • Fix for certain signals not getting identified properly
  • Fix for a sequence not triggering correctly if you take a particular object on a field trip
  • Fix for distant Brittle Hollow pieces not updating their visibility properly
  • Fix for the credits sequence
  • Fix for a visible seam in a shadowmap in a certain location
  • Fix to rumble on multiple controllers
  • A fix for UI textures for input bindings being incorrect in certain situations

For those who are just downloading version 1.1.8, please ensure that all subsequent patches are installed; in particular 1.1.9 significantly improves the gameplay experience.

New Museum Exhibit Under Construction!

A new museum exhibit is officially under construction! For those of you playing on console, patches 1.1.8 and 1.1.9 are live now (1.06 and 1.07 on PS4), gearing up for Echoes of the Eye’s release on Tuesday! Steam and Epic players are in a slightly different time stream, and will get the patches on Tuesday morning.

Be advised, Patch 8 overhauls the input system; installing this patch will reset your input bindings to the defaults. We strongly recommend you reacquaint yourself with the flashlight button before next week ;;)
